Apprentices do real jobs for real employers. So apprentices are earning and at the same time they are learning and developing their employment skills in their selected occupational areas. The key benefits of Apprenticeships are: receiving on-the-job and off-the-job training, gaining a qualification, earning a salary and receiving paid holiday, and learning and developing job-specific skills. The minimum wage for apprentices is £4.30/hour.

Apprenticeships are high-quality work-based training programmes for anyone who wishes to develop their career while working for an employer. Apprentices must be aged 16 or over and, while training, will be in employment for minimum of 30 hours a week and not be taking part in full-time education or in possession of a Higher Education Qualification.

Employers who take on Apprentices value the practical nature of the training, which is directly relevant to improving performance in their business. London Vesta College (LVC) staff work with employers to support them and the Apprentices during the training period. This includes a substantial number of off-the-job training activities. Areas for off-the-job training activities will be identified by the rigorous initial / diagnostic assessment process and also from employer / learner requests.
